A fair dice is a dice in which each face has an equal probability. In other words, there is an equal chance of landing on any of the dice faces. The main quality of a fair dice is that it is symmetric. So all 5 platonic solids are fair dice. There are also many more fair dice. Common fair dice made by dice makers and used in some games are: d2, d4, d5, d6, d8, d10, d12, d20, d48, d60, d120
Check below to see how these dice are rolled and used by the players
D2 (Dice with 2 sides)
Wondering what a dice with 2 sides looks like? Imagine a coin. It's a simple dice with only 2 sides. The fairness of this dice is same as the fairness of the coin. Recently, the fairness of the coin has been doubted. You can read about it here https://econ.ucsb.edu/~doug/240a/Coin%20Flip.htm. This means that the fairness of the old traditional coin toss is questionable. However, if the toss is done by a computer then the physical reasons for unfairness are removed and it becomes a fair toss.
The face that lands at the top gives the result.
Roll a D8
Watch how a d8 is rolled:
D10 (Dice with 10 sides)
The face that lands at the top gives the result.
Roll a D10
Watch how a d10 is rolled:
D12 (Dice with 12 sides)
The face that lands at the top gives the result.
Roll a D12
Watch how a d12 is rolled:
D20 (Dice with 20 sides)
The face that lands at the top gives the result.
Roll a D20
Watch how a d20 is rolled:
D48 (Dice with 48 sides)
The face that lands at the top gives the result, however, it gets really tricky to tell which face is up as in a practical d48 die each face is sufficiently small. The bigger the die the easier it is.
Roll a D48
Watch how a d48 is rolled:
D60 (Dice with 60 sides)
The face that lands at the top gives the result, however, it gets really tricky to tell which face is up as in a practical d60 die each face is sufficiently small. The bigger the die the easier it is.
Roll a D60
Watch how a d60 is rolled:
D120 (Dice with 120 sides)
The largest number of sides possible mathematically. The face that lands at the top gives the result, however, it gets really tricky to tell which face is up as in a practical d120 die each face is sufficiently small. The bigger the die the easier it is.
